Abstract: We describe the fabrication and measurement of a terahertz surface plasmon waveguide in which the optical mode is localized within a nanoporous silicon slab. We compare the propagation characteristics among waveguides with different porous layer thickness, and present an analytical model that accurately describes the dispersion and loss in the waveguides.
