Hamidreza Chalabi’s paper in Phys. Rev. Lett. is featured on the cover of the October 11 issue of Phys. Rev. Lett. This work employs temporal multiplexing of optical pulses to simulate a quantum random walk on a two dimensional lattice. Serial temporal phase modulation is used to produce a synthetic gauge field for the propagating pulses.
